An unusual and beautiful pendant-seal given in love and friendship during the early part of the 19th century. It bears a carnelian (quartz) stone that is carved with two birds (probably doves) joined by an infinity symbol and the words “L’amitie” which is French for friendship. Overall dimensions are 25.7 mm (1-inch) in length, 22 mm (7/8-inch) wide and 27.6 mm (1 1/8 inch) in height. The carnelian is oval with a flat face that measures 23.5 x 20 mm; the carved design is still crisp and clear with almost no wear. The top of the fob has a lovely scroll-themed motif that is silver and sits on top of a silver overlay dome with shell design. The bezel is silver as well. Overall condition is very good: some of the silver overlay has worn and there is a small stress crack in the scroll design that may be part of the original construction (see photos).
Return policy: I want you to be satisfied with your purchase. I will accept returns and refund the full amount paid less the cost of shipping and insurance. I ask that all items are returned to me in the same condition in All of my vintage items are all previously worn and loved and so are sold as is. I have a long history in the jewelry industry (since 1993!) and am a certified GIA gemologist. I do my best to accurately describe items and am confident in my ability to assess stones, metal, construction, etc. I use the term “delicate” in many of my listings which I interpret to mean small or dainty. If the ring or item requires extra care when worn, usually I use “fragile” or “wear with care”. Most pieces have been lightly polished or cleaned, if possible, unless the process will damage or alter their natural patina. Some items can be altered, some cannot, so please feel free to ask questions, I will answer them as quickly as I can. Please keep in mind that custom-altered pieces are non-returnable.
