Description

I love the whimsy in the designs of the Victorian era. These lovely earrings feature a hand-engraved image of a crested bird in flight. The earrings are 10k yellow gold (tested) and have a scalloped edge oval shape that measures 14.6 mm in length and 10.7 mm wide. Overall length, including the ear wires, is 22 mm (7/8-inch). Each has a simple ear wire with a safety hook that probably was a later modification (one swivels a bit, the other is stationary). A small hole is located on the base of each earring that had some form of dangling element in its previous life. Weight of the earrings is 0.8 dwts (1.2 gr.). Condition is very good; there is a small hole at the top (see photo) where the scallop edge meets the front.

Return policy: I want you to be satisfied with your purchase. I will accept returns and refund the full amount paid less the cost of shipping and insurance. I ask that all items are returned to me in the same condition in All of my vintage items are all previously worn and loved and so are sold as is.  I have a long history in the jewelry industry (since 1993!) and am a certified GIA gemologist.  I do my best to accurately describe items and am confident in my ability to assess stones, metal, construction, etc.  I use the term “delicate” in many of my listings which I interpret to mean small or dainty.  If the ring or item requires extra care when worn, usually I use “fragile” or “wear with care”. Most pieces have been lightly polished or cleaned, if possible, unless the process will damage or alter their natural patina.  Some items can be altered, some cannot, so please feel free to ask questions, I will answer them as quickly as I can.   Please keep in mind that custom-altered pieces are non-returnable.

Care for Plastic or Foil Backed Rhinestone Jewelry:  Take care to not drop vintage pieces, especially on hard surfaces.  Vintage jewelry often has vintage epoxy securing the stones; if jarred with enough force, the epoxy can crumble or break and stones can fall out.  Also, do not immerse plastic beads or foil back rhinestones in liquid cleaner.  Best practices are to use a soft cloth with a small amount of cleaner (don’t spray directly on rhinestones) and make sure to dry immediately.  And, always put your jewelry on AFTER you have used perfume or hairspray.  Your jewelry will thank you by staying sparkly for a long time!
