Description

An ancient Roman hoard coin set in a one of a kind pendant setting; first carved in wax and then cast in sterling silver. Coin is a Roman hoard coin I acquired in a lot that dates to the 3rd Century AD. The coin is set with the obverse side as the focal point (I thought this side was more interesting!) Accenting the pendant is a 2.5 mm round faceted blue sapphire, flush set at the base of the piece. A few 14k yellow gold elements (the prong and a decorative bead on the bail) add a bit of contrast. Total length of the piece is 1 7/16-inches. Pendant is shown on a black leather cord with sterling silver end caps and clasp. (Note: I am not a coin expert and acquired the coin specifically for jewelry purposes, not for numismatic collecting.)
