Sitting at the same jewelers bench, using the same tools day after day, for over 20 years gave me “tool blindness”.    Adjusting to a new set of tools has been a joy and a stress.   I love tools–any opportunity to justify adding something to my collection, is immensely satisfying.  I am realizing, though, that just because I own a tool, doesn’t mean I “know” it.  Almost like people, it takes time to get acquainted, understand individual nuances and develop a “relationship” of trust.  In a sense, those tools become an extension of me and what I produce.  (I’m imagining myself as Edward Scissorhands but with a soldering torch and set of wax files).  I might have to illustrate that…
