Description

This is a lovely Victorian chatelaine brooch with a black enameled locket, circa 1880’s. The brooch tests as 14k yellow gold and has a fancy hand-engraved design with “taille d’epargne” black enameled detail. Reverse has a simple pin assembly with C-catch and hook that are appropriate for its age, and function properly. Dimensions of the brooch are 1 1/4-inches wide and 1 1/16-inches tall. A V-shaped section of green gold and a single bezel set seed pearl add interest to the design. Dangling from the brooch is a small black enameled locket that tests as 18k (it is also marked XVIII on the inside flanges of the locket). The locket is circular, is enameled on both sides, each with a tiny star in the center. The front side has a small seed pearl set in the center of the star. Dimensions of the locket are 1 3/16-inches (including the ring at the top) and 7/8-inches wide. Interior has one glass fitted frame that fits snugly in place. Weight of both pieces is 6.8 dwts. Condition is very good: the enameling on the locket and the brooch have some wear (minor chips and scratches) which is typical of age and use.

Return policy: I want you to be satisfied with your purchase. I will accept returns and refund the full amount paid less the cost of shipping and insurance. I ask that all items are returned to me in the same condition in All of my vintage items are all previously worn and loved and so are sold as is.  I have a long history in the jewelry industry (since 1993!) and am a certified GIA gemologist.  I do my best to accurately describe items and am confident in my ability to assess stones, metal, construction, etc.  I use the term “delicate” in many of my listings which I interpret to mean small or dainty.  If the ring or item requires extra care when worn, usually I use “fragile” or “wear with care”. Most pieces have been lightly polished or cleaned, if possible, unless the process will damage or alter their natural patina.  Some items can be altered, some cannot, so please feel free to ask questions, I will answer them as quickly as I can.   Please keep in mind that custom-altered pieces are non-returnable.
